Teacher Yvonne started
piano lessons at the age of 3 1/2 from teachers at the Shanghai
Conservatory of Music. After immigrating to Hong Kong, she
passed Grade 8 exam of the Associated
Boards of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) at age 11. After graduating from Mills High School, Teacher Yvonne went
on to California Institute of Technology to earn a BS with
honors in
Chemical Engineering and a MA in International Policy Studies from Stanford
University.
In the summer of
2002, inspired by her then 4-year old son who was diagnosed being on
the autistic spectrum, Yvonne decided to devote to early childhood
music education by becoming a licensed Kindermusik educator.
She has taught at the community centers of Pacifica, San Bruno, San
Mateo, Redwood City, Belmont, San Carlos and Foster City. In her
constant pursuit of providing the best childhood music education,
Teacher Yvonne has received extensive training in methodologies
including Musikgarten, Lynn Kleiner, Kodaly and Orff.
In addition to
teaching at her studio, Teacher Yvonne visits Sea Breeze School
in Foster City and Kindercourt Academy in San Carlos.
Besides being an
educator, Teacher Yvonne is proud to be still actively involved in
piano performance, passing LRSM diploma (ABRSM) with distinction in
2007, and winning the piano duo category with Teacher Stanley in the
2008 U. S. Open Music Competition.
